Georgina Maxim creates textile sculptures from previously worn clothing, transcribing distinct moments in time, remembering experiences and conversations (real and imagined) and exploring her own psychological landscapes.
Her work is a powerful act of self-healing, undertaken through the laborious repetition of dhungemutunge, her haphazard, looping signature stitching technique. The finished pieces evade simplistic definitions - they are rich poetic expressions written in thread, profound energetic records of memory and charged conversations.
